Lesson 1

Introduction

WARNING: This module is deprecated and no longer receives updates. Protractor is likely being removed as the default from Angular applications and Protractor itself will likely stop receiving updates and development in the future. I would recommend checking out the Test Driven Development with Cypress/Jest as a replacement.

Welcome to the module!

0:00 Hello, and welcome, to the Test Driven Development in Ionic module of Elite Ionic. In this module, we will be covering how to make automated tests for Ionic applications and we are going to be specifically focusing on using Test Driven Development.

0:15 We will be learning all about what an automated test is and why they are good to create. We will mostly be focusing on creating unit tests and end to end tests for Ionic applications. We are also going to go through how to use the Test Driven Development methodology to create these tests.

0:36 There is a lot of benefits to using automated tests in your applications. We will be talking a lot about those throughout the module but, in brief, tests will force you to write good code, and they will force you to write less complex code. Code that is spaghetti code - code that is not designed well - is hard to test. Code that is designed well is much easier to test.
